SESC bertioga

christmas setting

The purpose of this project for Sesc Bertioga was to create a Brazilian Christmas that could dialogue with the surrounding landscape. This Sesc unit is on the beach and is a natural haven with lush vegetation and abundance of birds. Elements connected to the symbolism of Christmas were used, but reinterpreted in order to maintain their symbolic essence and, at the same time, refer to the surroundings and nature. The important symbolism of the tree was maintained, but the pine tree - so far from the tropical reality - was transformed into a variety of mangrove trees, a rich ecosystem full of continuous renewal. Most of the scenic elements were made by NGOs and from the recycling of materials.
